A Salute to ………Mr. Bob Ourada
Optimist member and past president Bob Ourada received special recognition from Optimist President Jenny Behrens on behalf of all Antigo Optimists for 29 years of service to club projects benefiting youth in Langlade County. Behrens reflected on the impact Ourada has had organizing the Cheese Curd sales and heading up projects that benefit youth. His absence will require special effort by all Antigo Optimists to fill the void. Ourada's organization skills will be missed, but his influence will continue to be felt in ongoing projects. Ourada and his family will be moving to the Eau Claire area this spring to start his new career with Johnson Bank.
Personally I can tell you that we (The Optimists) and the City of Antigo are losing a friend and a "Really Good Man" ….God Bless …..Dennis
Wisconsin Public Service Energy Challenge

Pictured are challenge participant Bob Ourada, WPS rep Kelly Zagrzebski presenting the check to Optimist President Jenny Behrens and challenge participant Jan Hansford. The Service Club Energy Challenge required particpants to keep track of energy expenses, reach out to people in the community to weatherize homes and encourage energy conservation.
Antigo Optimist Club sponsors the Safe Assured ID program, Bike Safety Rodeos, Special Needs Fisheree, Boys and Girls Club transportation, youth participation in education events and helps fund projects that encourage good citizenship for youth in Langlade County. The club meets every Tuesday noon at VFW on Elm Street to discuss programs of community interest. Visitors and guests along with their suggestions for projects that benefit youth are always welcome.
Optimist tour of Antigo Veterinary Clinic
Local Veterinarian and Antigo Optimist member Dr. Sarah Lautzenhiser uses her dog Raji as part of the recent Optimist tour of Antigo Veterinary Clinic located on Amron Ave in Antigo. Lautzenhiser hosted Optimist members for lunch and a tour of the clinic, including showing how the stray cat neutering program sponsored by the clinic works. Optimist members learned that many of the practices used in vet clinics are similar to procedures used in human hospitals. According to Lautzenhiser, the tours help keep people informed about the services offered by local businesses to maintain a strong local business environment for Antigo.
Antigo Optimists meet every Tuesday @ noon at El Tequila in Antigo with monthly tours of businesses
